Commitment

I will meet you at the “kitchen table,” not the conference room.

As the six time President of the United Peachtree Corners Civic Association (35 subdivisions; over 4,000 homes), I helped resolve the same “kitchen table issues” common to us all: zoning, development and transportation.  I am a community servant—not a politician.

I won’t “trash” your opinion.

Fairness is what I always seek…not like the recent County decision on trash collection.  When citizens feel they aren’t being heard, they loose trust in their leaders.  The problems facing us today are often choices between least-worst solutions, and trust is essential to resolving these problems.  The people want someone to represent them that they know and trust from their world of community issues.  I will bring my sense of fairness & “does her homework” style to the Board of Commissioners.

I will put public safety first.
If our neighborhoods aren’t safe, Gwinnett citizens will leave.  The District Attorney’s Office, Courts, Police, and Fire Departments will all find a friend in me.  They are at the bottom of the list for budget cuts.

I believe in “smart” economic growth.

I know we can have both economic development and a high quality of life.  We need to balance the tax digest by getting Gwinnett back to a healthy ratio of residential to commercial development.

I will bring needed redevelopment to District 2.

District 2 was the in the first wave of development in the 70’s and 80’s. Our shopping centers, offices, apartments and homes are beginning to look dated.  While still a desirable location, many areas need a face lift.  Our aging communities need senior housing and mixed use that truly reduces traffic on our congested roads. I will work together with all those concerned to create ideas that will generate development dollars to invest in our community

We will live within our means.

We must preserve Gwinnett’s AAA bond rating, provide essential government services, and not increase taxes.  I will help balance what we want with what we need, and then figure out how we can pay for it without increasing taxes.

I will never do “business as usual.”
I will use the analytical skills I developed as a research chemist and the listening and conflict resolution skills I learned as a community leader to address the many issues facing the County.  I have a reputation for fairness based on listening to people and representing their best interest. I do my homework and make up my own mind.

I will communicate well and often.

This is the most important part of being a County Commissioner.  We will have an open monthly meeting for all District 2 constituents.  This will be a way to disseminate information as well as gather ideas and learn about problems you may have.

I will deliver results.

I have been successful because I was a trusted neighbor and friend.  I listened and then responded to the community’s concerns…and I was accountable for putting our community vision ahead of my own gain.  Together, we got results.

Volunteer!

We're a grassroots campaign with a committed group of volunteers who want to see Gwinnett grow and prosper. If you'd like to join the campaign, please drop us a line.
