Mission

1. Public Safety – If our neighborhoods aren’t safe, Gwinnett citizens will leave.  Showing our county’s weakness by decreasing our services will only lead to more crime and not enough skilled professionals to process the crime scenes efficiently.  We should continue to promote the C.O.P.S. program.  We MUST keep public safety strong. This is nonnegotiable.

2. Budget/Taxes – If we have cut to the bone and we are now cutting into the bone, we will damage vital services we must provide as a county.  We must look at new revenue sources besides tax increases.

3. Waste – We need to develop a system that will meet state requirements and be visionary and cost-efficient.  We must do a better job communicating to the taxpayers the reasons why a new system is required.  This means having informational meetings at times when people can attend.  Meetings need to be well-advertised.

4. Transportation – We should study other areas of the country and the world to find solutions to our ever-increasing traffic congestion.

5. Economic Development – We need to continue to work with the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce to attract healthy businesses to invest in Gwinnett.  We should continue to support the Gwinnett Village Community Improvement District’s redevelopment efforts.

6. Libraries – We must work with the Public Library Board to find ways to generate revenue.  Are there better hours or systems that would help make the branches more efficient?

7. Parks & Recreation – Community spirit must be promoted.  We should work with Parks & Recreation to see how we can better utilize our parks.

8. Planning & Development – Gwinnett County must update its zoning categories.  It is imperative that we develop better senior housing and mixed-use categories and create redevelopment incentives.

9. Web site – Gwinnett County’s Web site should be user friendly and attractive.  It should include a comprehensive calendar that lists all meetings and hearings that are open to the public.  The county should be the conduit for promoting community.  All events at parks, aquatic centers, libraries, the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center, and Gwinnett Center should be on one public calendar with links for more detail.

10. Water – We need to develop new cost-effective ideas for water issues related to future development and redevelopment.

11. Cities – There must be a coming together of the county and its municipalities.  All are stakeholders, and we all want what’s best for the citizens.  There must be direct contact between decision-makers from all groups on a more regular basis.

12. Communication – This is the most important part of being a county commissioner.  We will have an open monthly meeting for all District 2 constituents.  This will be a way to disseminate information as well as gather ideas and learn about problems you may have.

13. Civic Organizations – We should always encourage neighborhoods to join together to build a stronger voice in our county.  The United Peachtree Corners Civic Association and Berkeley Hills have done an excellent job staying on top of issues and disseminating information to the community.

14. Seniors – We need to support our seniors in getting information about programs designed especially with them in mind.  We must improve our zoning categories to better accommodate the needs of our 55+ citizens.

15. Youth – We all need to work together to help our youth thrive in a safe environment.

Neighbor Testimonial

  • “I had the pleasure of working with Lynette for 8 years.  Her work ethic and enthusiasm never waned and she met each day with vigor and determination to make every moment count in the lives of her students.  Now I have a deeper honor of knowing her as a friend and have seen her succeed in her civic endeavors, which she meets with the same positive attitude, integrity, and good humor I have come to depend upon in an often negative world.  I am grateful that Lynette is willing to work for the good of our community.”"
